When you think of this soca veteran, timeless classics like ‘Ent’, ‘How It Go Look’, ‘Whoa Donkey’, ‘Biting Insects’, and ‘On De Road’ instantly come to mind. When you hear the name Ronnie McIntosh, words like energetic, iconic fashion and natural performer easily come to mind. As one of soca music’s living legends and cultural ambassadors for almost (4) decades, his impact both on the stage and off has been transcending generations from the late 1980s to today.

From his breakout in 1988 ‘Happy’, to performing as the frontline singer with some of soca music’s biggest bands such as Massive Chandelier, Blue Ventures, and Atlantik; and winning the International Soca Monarch title in 1995 and 1997 (alongside with SuperBlue, the first tie in ISM history), Ronnie surely have earned the title ‘living legend’ when it comes to soca music.

The soca veteran joined us recently for an exceptional episode of Caribbean Entertainment Hub’s Instagram Weekly Live series ‘The E-Hub’, where he shared his wisdom and knowledge about the soca industry. He talked about what his musical career and journey have been like, on some of the highlights of his career thus far; and also shared stories about his experience in soca monarch competitions and the rivalry with soca legend SuperBlue. During the interview, Ronnie also highlighted some of soca music’s stars of today like Voice, and also shared his thoughts on the late great Blaxx. He talked about his mas band ‘Ronnie & Caro’ while sharing some much-needed advice for new artiste around the topic of finances and diversifying their income.
